Day 1: Tangier - Chefchaouen

Arrive in the mysterious city of Tangier either in the Tangier Ville, Tangier Med Ports, Ibn Battuta International Airport, or pick up from your accommodation. You will head to the blue city of Chefchaouen while crossing the spectacular Rif Mountains with its varied landscapes offering breathtaking views.

Day 1: Tangier - Chefchaouen

Arrive in the mysterious city of Tangier either in the Tangier Ville, Tangier Med Ports, Ibn Battuta International Airport, or pick up from your accommodation. You will head to the blue city of Chefchaouen while crossing the spectacular Rif Mountains with its varied landscapes offering breathtaking views.

Day 2: Full-Day Exploring Chefchaouen

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will spend the day exploring what this charming city of Chefchaouen has to offer. Please note that the blue city is tiny and can be navigated without the need of hiring a local tour guide. You will start from the famous Utta Hammam Square, which is in the very heart of the Medina (Old Town) with the option to make a visit to the dramatic Kasbah (fortress). This Kasbah goes back to the 15th century and was built by Moulay Ali Ibn Rashid to fight against the Spanish and the Portuguese Invaders.

Meander around the beautifully-painted streets of the Medina, which have made it famous worldwide. You will get to the Ras El-Ma Spring, which is a cultural hub where you can see women wash clothes and carpets along with boys playing soccer afield. You may want to have a soft hike up where you can enjoy a complete panoramic view of the Chefchaouen Medina. Later, you will return to the vibrant square with its lined cafes and restaurant where you can enjoy a meal or a drink while watching the passers-by.

Day 3: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

Today, you will head to Fes while having a guided walking tour of the Roman Ruins of Chefchaouen where you can learn about the Roman Civilization and its architecture in the north of Africa. Continue on the track to Meknes, which is a beautiful city that has a rich history going back to the 17th century when the late Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail decided to turn it into the Moroccan Versailles.

You will begin your exploration of Meknes by the impressive Mansour Gate, and stretch your legs in the El-Hedim Square and the famous olive market. Visit the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, then drive through the high walls of the Royal Palace taking us to the Royal Granaries & Stables. You will learn how the Sultan used to look after his 12.000 horses along with they used to store grains.

You will then drive to Fes in the late afternoon through the highway.

Day 4: Explore Fes - Ifrane - Midelt

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Fes, you will spend the first half-day exploring the best of this mysterious city with a local tour guide. We will initially drive uphill where you can take nice shots of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes) that goes back to the 7th century. It is the largest car-free district in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so get ready to be taken back to Medieval Times.

Take pictures by the golden gates of the Royal Palace, then stretch your legs in the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter) where you can learn about how the Jews used to live in peaceful coexistence with Muslims. Now, it is time to get into the heart of the oldest Fes with its countless labyrinthine alleyways that are shrouded in mystery. You will be meandering around its intricate alleyways while passing by the Koranic Schools including the Qarawiyyin University, which is the oldest university in the world. Museums, Funduks along with the popular Chouara Tanneries where you can learn about how the best quality of the leather is being made using traditional methods.

After lunch, you will head to Midelt through the lush Middle Atlas while including a stop in the charming city of Ifran, which was selected as the second cleanest city in the world in 2015. Make another pause in the cedar forest that hosts a colony of Barbary Macaques.

Day 5: Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert

Today, you will resume your journey to the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi with a nice drive through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains offering breathtaking views. You will include a short break for taking pictures in the panoramic Ziz Valley with its countless palm trees. You will have a tour around the Tafilalet Oasis with the possibility to make a visit to the traditional weekly market if it happens during our visit.

In the late afternoon, you will go on a camel ride experience in the soft sand while enjoying the miraculous view of the sunset. After having dinner inside the tented restaurant or under the stars, you may want to stretch your legs in the sand dunes while enjoying the stars & the prevalent tranquility. Culminate the day with a nice sleep in your private tent or under the stars.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Early wake up in the morning, climb up the sand dune to enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunrise before getting back to the desert camp for breakfast and taking a shower. You will resume your journey further west while including a visit to the fossil factory in Erfoud where you can form an idea about the excavation of fossils and minerals in the region. Later, you will have a good time in the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon), which is a high cliff standing like walls penetrated by an ever-flowing river.

The Todra Gorge has attracted mountain climbers worldwide and has been an ideal escape for the locals seeking cooler weather when it gets hot in the region. Later, you will resume your drive to the Dades Valley where we will spend our 6th night.

Day 7: Dades Valley - Ait Boutaghrar - Valley of Roses - Ouarzazate

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will have an adventurous drive in the rocky desert plateau offering majestic views of the High-Atlas Mountains. We will include a visit to a nomad family that still lives in caves offering an opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and how they have been enduring the tough life.

We will later include another stop in the lush Valley of Roses where you can learn about the products ranging from perfumes, rose water, cosmetics, and much more. You will visit the Amridil Kasbah which goes back to the 16th century before reaching Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) in the late afternoon.

Day 8: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

Today, you will continue on the track to Marrakech with the option to include a visit to the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. After that, we will have a visit to the dramatic Ait Benhaddou Village, which is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site consisting of many Kasbahs (fortresses) that are a striking example of southern architecture. Ait Benhaddou goes back to the 11th century being an important commercial center for the caravans that used to traverse the Sahara from Marrakech.

After lunch, you will cross the High-Atlas Mountains with a nice drive over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m). The views from here are stunning with snow-capped mountains in the winter. You will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Day 9: Full-Day Exploring Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech with a local tour guide. You will begin your guided tour with a drive through the Ville Nouvelle “Gueliz” that was built by the French when Morocco was a French Protectorate from 1912 to 1956 with its administrations, travel companies, and international shops. Have a visit to the botanical gardens of Majorelle that offer a pure aromatic experience with scents of flowers and plants dominating the horizons.

Drive back to the Medina where you can an overview of the Marrakech background by the Koutoubia Mosque that was built by the Almohads in the 12th century. Visit the 15th century Saadian Tombs with their Moroccan and Andalusian geometric designs. Stretch your legs by the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter) to the Bahia Palace which was built in the 19th century by the Vizier of the Sultan Moulay Ismail for his wives and concubines.

Now, it’s the time to get into the vibrant Marrakech Souks (markets) that are organized into sections based on specialty. We will end our guided tour of Marrakech in the famous Jemaa El-Fna Square, which is the focal point of Marrakech.
